Hi
I have looked through all my settings and can't find the "Private Browsing" button anywhere. Does it have to do with screentime or that it's an iPhone 8, surely it can not because it is on IOS 16.1

Private Browsing can be accessed in Safari or other browser app specifically.
In Safari, tap on the 2 squares icon at the bottom right corner of the Safari screen, then on the downward arrow next to the number of open tabs, and then on the word Private.
The option may not appear if Screen Time is active and Web sites are restricted in Settings➜ScreenTime➜Content & Privacy Restrictions➜Content Restrictions➜Web Content

Something is restricted in Screen Time.
Make sure Web Content is set to "Unrestricted" as explained above. Settings➜ScreenTime➜Content & Privacy Restrictions➜Content Restrictions➜Web Content
Is this a corporate iPhone?
Do you have an Exchange email account on it from your office or school?
Do you have a profile installed in Settings ➜ General ➜ VPN & Device Management?
There has to be something preventing the option from appearing.
Possibly, Yes.
The Profile or your Exchange email account may be limiting the options shown, including Private Browsing.
If your company is applying a configuration profile it can restrict such things.
Don't do anything on that device you would not want your company knowing about, and assume they can know everything you do on it.
private browsing has still not appeared
That Private button dose not appear in my safari “content and privacy restrictions” is also turned of in screen time
