I'm using the USB-c to lightening cable that came with my iphone 12 max pro and it will charge fine but how do I get itune's to sync/backup using it?
When I load itunes the phone doesn't show (like it would via USB) and also when I connect it to my laptop, it doesn't show as connected.
Anything I should try?

How are you connecting the iPhone to the laptop? Does your laptop have USB-C ports? Or are you using an adapter?
If using an adapter, which one?
If it has USB-C ports make sure the port on the laptop is for data transfer and not just for Power delivery.

Does your laptop have USB-C ports? Yes, no adapter being used.
With you mentioing about the power delivery I bet thats it if the laptop cannot see it or iTunes as I thought it was like a USB post for power and data.
