Message blocking

Please help me! 3 days ago my phone blocked an android user mid conversation towards the end of the day. I did nothing different. The error message now reads :

Free Msg: Unable to send message - Message Blocking is active.

Every time I text a non iPhone user.

iPhone 11 Pro, iOS 16

Thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you are having an issue sending messages over SMS text, which is a service provided by your wireless carrier. You may need to speak with them directly for further assistance, but before doing so you can use the steps below to verify there is nothing wrong with your iPhone itself:


  1. Determine if the issue is isolated to one contact, or all non-iPhone users. If the issue is isolated to one specific contact, it is possible the issue is on the other person's end.
  2. If the issue occurs with all non-iPhone users, we would recommend using the steps outlined in the Apple Support article If you can't send or receive messages on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support, which targets issues sending messages.


Check with your carrier after that if you still need some help. They will be best equipped to help with sending and receiving messages over their network.
