Macbook pro 2022 - External monitor dims on connecting plug (auto-brightness is off)

I have a Macbook pro 2022,

Everytime I re-connect my external monitor thunderbolt cable, the brightness dims 30%~ Even if the previous time it was set to 100% brightness. I have auto-brightness disabled.

This is really annoying, as I need to re-connect my external monitor alot of times a day due to going from my desk to meeting rooms: I'll have to jump into settings and drag the slider up everytime, since the Macbook pro 2022 doesn't let me control the external monitor brightness via the keyboard shortcut.

Tips welcome.

Hello SanneMeijerCOM,

Thanks for choosing the Apple Support Communities. Do you have any software that came with your monitor? There may be third party apps that are contending with system settings. For that reason, we will want to test this using safe mode. That will load up only macOS apps. Here is how.

Also, do you have another monitor, or another thunderbolt cable to test the hardware itself? That would be a great step as well.

We hope this helps.

Cheers!
