How to Disable the Apple Keyboard Folio from Turning off the Screen

With my iPad, I have the smart folio keyboard and it automatically turns the iPads screen off with the case folded on top of the screen. The only problem with this is that when my iPad is connected to my monitor, with the keyboard folded over, the monitor is blank (with the iPad in sleep). I was wondering if there were any settings to work around this, and to keep the display on, regardless. I don’t want the iPad open next to the display as it takes up a good portion of my desk that I frequently use.

I appreciate all help :)

There are two settings that you’ll need to change:

Settings > Display & Brightness >

  • Auto-Lock > select Never
  • Lock/Unlock - set to OFF

You should note that this has a potentially unwanted side-effect for device security - in that the iPad will not automatically lock to prevent access. As such, anyone will be able to access your iPad unless you have manually locked the screen.
