Want to upgrade to OS X 11.5.1 but wheel keeps spinning when looking for OS X updates.
And App Store does not have any updates (seemingly) either.
I am now on OS X 11.2.1
How to update now to OS X 11.5.1 or later?
MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.13
Apple Intelligence is now available on iPhone, iPad, and Mac!

Several workarounds have been proposed, such as restarting your Mac in "Safe Mode" and checking for updates while in that mode, and / or resetting NVRAM.

I tried to do the 11.5.1 first from Terminal and then nothing seemingly happened (other than "searching", then I tried to do the 11.7.2
This is how terminal looks at the moment (in a process) but has lasted for 30 minutes.....
Try running this command in the Terminal. Assuming it works, it will download "Install macOS Big Sur" in the Applications folder. Run it from there.
softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 11.7.2
Thanks. Perhaps I could exchange to "softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 11.5.1 or is it best to go for the lastes which probably is 11.7.2. My MacBook pro is from 2015. It seems to be a requirement in order to install Final Cut Pro X......
Okay first of all 11.5.1 is no longer available. In your screen shot it looks like you tried to run "softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 11.7.2" while the Terminal was still searchng for 11.5.1.
Just a thought, try the 11.7.2 Terminal command while your Mac is in Safe Mode.
You're welcome. Might as well get 11.7.2 since it's the most up to date.
The Terminal command did not work..... Still not able to do the upgrade.....
Thank you @John Galt, that was the solution. Resetting the NVRAM 😊!
