As the headline says, "Tap Allowed Apps and make sure that AirDrop is turned on" ... and AirDrop is still stuck in Receiving Off Mode. Now what? Any help is appreciated to get AirDrop working with my MBPro... which recognizes my iPhone.

AirDrop has three levels of settings: Receiving Off, Contacts Only, and Everyone. If AirDrop is stuck on Receiving Off then it can be fixed by going to Settings > General > AirDrop and selecting one of the other options
