My phone keeps saying it cannot be backed up! I have an iPhone 14 should have 128Gb

My iPhone 14 keeps telling me I have no space to backup my phone I should have 128 GB?

iPhone 14 Pro Max, iOS 16

Your backup is not stored locally on your iPhone, but in iCloud. iCloud has 5GB of free space, so if your iCloud Backup exceeds 5GB, or you have something else that takes up space, then that is the reason for the message that there is not enough space.


You either need to delete something in iCloud. Or buy more space in iCloud.


You can see what's in iCloud here:

Settings -> Apple ID (Your name) -> iCloud -> Manage Storage
