Apple Watch Ultra elevation change

I see some posts about altimeter in accuracy on the ultra but my Apple Watch Ultra shows an accurate reading sitting still at my house. But Wednesday I ran 3 miles down the road and stopped the workout and it registered 34 feet elevation change. (There is not 34ft elevation change within 50 miles of my house, but this is within the +/-20’ it states.) I started a new workout and ran the same 3 miles back and it registered 1260 feet elevation change.

I’ve seen similar discrepancies on previous versions of Apple Watch but none anywhere near this far off.

What is going on?
