Built-in Camera Flickering

Hello! I have a new iMac and the built-in camera flickers with body movement, especially with certain lighting. I am a sign language interpreter and it becomes a problem when I am working on Zoom.

Are there suggestions for what I can do to resolve this?

I bought a Logitech webcam and that isn't working (not compatible, software is wonky), so sending THAT back.

Looking for other ideas.

Thanks, appreciate it.

Hello heyrhea,

It sounds like you are seeing some flickering behaviors when using your webcam, especially when using Zoom. Does this happen when you use Apple apps, such as FaceTime? Or does it only happen on third party tools like Zoom?

Have you made sure that you're running the most updated version of macOS on your computer?

Update macOS on Mac

"Use Software Update

Before installing new software, it's a good idea to back up your Mac.

  1. From the Apple menu  in the corner of your screen:
    • Choose System Settings. Then click General in the sidebar, and Software Update on the right.
    • Or choose System Preferences. Then click Software Update.

2. If Software Update finds new software, click the Update Now or Upgrade Now button to install it.

3. Enter your administrator password, if asked. During installation, your Mac might restart, and you might see a progress bar or blank screen several times.

If Software Update says that your Mac is up to date, then no new software is currently available for your Mac model. Software Update shows only updates and upgrades that are compatible with your Mac."

Regards.
