Apple Pay: Lloyds uk
I have used Apple Pay for years through Barclays. Like everyone who uses it the ability to pay securely without having to carry your card / wallet as well as your phone has become an essential feature of how we operate.
in December I switched banks from Barclays (who I have been with for over 25 years) to Lloyds.
Initially Apple Pay appeared to work. I didn’t notice any issues. My chip and pin card was corrupted and I had to order a new one.
Whilst I waited for my new card around Christmas, no issue. I’d just pay by Apple Pay anyway. But multiple transactions were declined. This had never happened before. Checked balance - phew more than enough funds.
I used my credit card to get me through, assuming all would be sorted when the new card arrived.
I uploaded my new card details to Apple Pay. Multiple declined transactions. Again more than enough in the account.
I contacted Lloyds who said Apple Pay imposes a limit for the number of transactions and the value of transactions per day.
Lloyds say they cannot tell me what these limits are. Lloyds tell me they cannot adjust these limits. Lloyds tell me they cannot turn these limits off.
Lloyds suggestion: Just carry your card with you at all times!
Apple Pay is now utterly useless to me. It turns off at random points. It cannot be relied upon. I now must have cash or card with me at all times.
Can someone advise me:
Is this an ‘Apple’ issue? If so who do I contact to resolve?
Is this a Lloyds issue? If so can it be resolved and how?
Or if I revert to Barclays will the issue disappear, and get me back to where I was?
Thanks. Yours in utter frustration.
