Notes disappeard

So silly me, all I was trying to do is save an .txt file from notes.

I clicked on File/Import to notes... not knowing what it means and selected a folder.

After that, Notes started to "import" around 2000 files for a long time.

I don't know what that was, there is nothing in the folder I selected.

But all my notes disappeared form the desktop Notes app.

I went online and I can see them in iCloud, but I can't find the option to restore them on my desktop Notes app.

I'm logged into iCloud on my mac, when i go Notes>Accounts, iCloud is there, there is a check on the Notes app. Still, my Notes are empty. No folders whatsoever.

I don't know what happened there, but I really need my notes back.

Hello testimo,

Let's use the steps below to turn iCloud Notes off and back on to see if that helps with that behavior:

1. In the Notes app on your Mac, choose Notes > Accounts.

2. Select the account, then deselect the Notes checkbox.

The account’s notes aren’t available until you select the checkbox again.

To use the account again in Notes, select the Notes checkbox.

Should that still persist, do you sync your notes with any other devices? If so, are they exhibiting the same behavior?

Hey testimo,

You might try removing the folder from the Notes app within safe mode. Can't guarantee that'll work, but it's definitely worth a shot. Info on How to use safe mode on your Mac can be found on this page. Make a note that the steps to load into safe mode can differ depending on the type of processor your Mac uses. give that a try and report back with your findings.

Thank you, chuckbl, that helped.

Now I have a different problem.

Unfortunately, the 'imported' folder was a web development project with 2000 files.

Every time I try to delete it from Notes, the app crashes.

Is there another way to remove it from Notes?

Does not seem to be an option to delete folder on iCloud.
