Unable to send photos with my new iPhone to non-iPhone users through Messages

Send and save your photos to photo and then send via email as a workaround. I think this is a safety feature on Apple to ensure that what you send is what you have legitimate right to send as a safety feature.

Something in your backup is corrupted.

Did “all the basic resets” include Reset Network Settings?

Mine is working now. I made sure that I updated to the latest version. They have had a few updates just recently. Possibly one of them fixed it.

iPhone XR - Same thing happened to me. Have tried all the "advertised standard fixes" with no success. Everything was working fine until after the 16.3 update. Then after, could no longer send pictures by text to my relatives using Android phones.

I’m also having the same issue. I’ve done everything, turned features off, back on, reset network settings, resets on the phone…nothing. I can use airdrop, but this is super inconvenient. I didn’t see a resolution anywhere. Usually Apple is pretty fast at fixing issues. Anyone know if they’re working on it???

Me too. I used to be able to send pics via IMS and SMS to any phone prior to IOS 16.3 update. Now I can't send pics via IMS/SMS or MMS. Can send texts only. I could send pics to iphones and androids but not anymore. Can send pics via Whatsapp or Viber only with no problem. I hope the next IOS update fixes this problem as it is very frustrating.

any updates on this 4/14/23 and still have the same problem. iPhone 14 pro max on T-Mobile 5g unlimited and any photo sent to an android user fails or is super slow…same exact photo sent to iPhone user with or without Wi-Fi on shoots right across instantly. Didn’t have this problem with my old iPhone 11 Pro on Verizon edit: contacted T-Mobile wasted 3 hours of my life they did all the resets and whatever…didn’t fix anything

Yep, and the solution is the same one that worked for dozens of other users in this 7 page thread, so the best way to find a solution is to go back and read some of the posts from people who solved it.

Have you called your carrier?

@Idris — We did that during the troubleshooting last night, and so much more. Like I said, we were actively working on it for three hours. They removed those features from my account, had me restart the phone with WiFi off, and then restored them and I did the same. But nothing worked.

It's embarrassing to report that I've just spent four hours on the phone with both Verizon and Apple. Both camps are stumped and escalating it to engineering. Apple scheduled a callback for Sunday, so we'll see what they dig up. Interestingly, neither camp is pointing at the other, saying "it's a carrier issue," or "it's Apple's issue." They seem genuinely stumped but interested in figuring out the problem. And they know it's affecting many users.

Another indication that this isn’t purely a Carrier issue: MMS picture messages send from my iPad and MacBook Pro, both of which use the iPhone to relay messages. So the Carrier service is working. But the function does not work on the iPhone.

Unfortunately, while the problem was fixed on my phone, it persists on my partner's iPhone which is on the same carrier and account as mine, and still persists on our housemate's iPhone( which is also a 14, like mine) but on Verizon, he spent hours with them, only for Verizon to give up and blame Apple. My solution? Got my partner an Apple, so we can iMessage together, and anyone on Android I use Signal, or my work Samsung. Sucks but there it is. Not a carrier problem, and Apple won't take responsibility. Why, so people like me would get another iPhone to save the headache (which I did!).

Well Apple is finally is going to implement RSC later next year which is the protocol that Android uses for texting. And oh by the way it supports higher-resolution photos and videos! Hmmmmmm doesn't that sound like the reason a lot of us are having issues sending photos to our Android friends ? Let's see if our issues go away once that is implemented.
