Ask permission to download

I am on my moms family sharing. She had it set up to where i had to “ask permission” everytime i downloaded an app, well the notifications wouldn’t go through to her phone so she said she would just turn it off through settings, she turned it off and when i try and download an app still it says i have to ask permission, even though she turned it off to where i don’t have to ask permission anymore. what can i do so i can download apps?

Greetings laceyware55,

Here’s information on the Ask To Buy feature as part of a child’s Apple ID and Family Sharing, including steps to take if there is an issue receiving the notifications and how to disable the feature -

If Ask to Buy isn't working

Approve what kids buy with Ask to Buy

Be sure that the family organizer has disabled the functionality using these steps:

How to turn on or turn off Ask to Buy
If you're a parent or guardian, use your own device to turn on or turn off Ask to Buy.

On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
1. Open the Settings app.
2. Tap your name.
3. Tap Family Sharing.
4. Tap your family member's name, then tap Ask to Buy. In iOS 15 or earlier, tap Ask to Buy then tap your family member's name.
5. Turn on or off Require Purchase Approval.

On your Mac
In macOS Ventura or later:
1. Choose Apple menu  > System Settings, then click Family.
2. Click your child's name.
3. Click Ask to Buy in the sidebar.
4. Turn on or off Require Purchase Approval.

In macOS Monterey or earlier:
1. Choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, then click Family Sharing.
2. Click Ask to Buy in the sidebar.
3. Select or deselect the checkbox next to the child's name.

If that has been done, then we’d recommend both the family organizer and the child restart their devices and test again.

If the issue persists at that point, reaching out to Apple Support for assistance would be the next step and can be done with this link - Contact Apple Support

Thanks.
