can not fill in downloaded forms with latest Mac Pro ios update

I downloaded to pdf files forms to fill out on my Mac Pro. but I cant fill in anything. I have the latest ios sierra update.

Problems with differences in PDF documents filled in with Preview vs. Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Hi; I use fillable PDFs for progress notes in my office ((I'm a counselor). I created the forms on a Mac with Adobe (full PDF product), and saved them as PDFs in my MBA files. And I almost always use Preview to open the form and fill it out. And then print before I send and the dates are ALWAYS printed right. Recently, I saved the newly completed form and then open it in Adobe Reader -- and it is always fine. BUT I then I complete them and send them (confidentially) to our Billing office-- and they reach out when they open the PDF, and they are telling me that the dates on the forms are missing! (There are 2, date spaces, one on top in space for "date of service") and at the bottom next to my signature. ) But as I said, when I looked at the finished form after saving it, it looks fine in Preview but also looks fine in Reader. Nonetheless, most of the time, I get a note or call that the date or dates did not print out! But then I email them to the office and they tell me nope, both or sometimes 1 date is missing from my completed note form. I would like to know why this happens and what to do about it to that the filled in PDF looks the way I made it and sent it. VERSIONS: Adobe app used occasionally to open and occasionally fill the pre-made forms in is: Adobe Acrobat Reader DC, Continuous release, V 2022.001.20169 I stopped using Reader to fill the forms because I thought that was why the dates were often missing; but that is NOT the case. My edition of Preview info: PREVIEW: Version 11.0 (1033.4) My MB air M1 laptop is running Monterey v 12.5.1 Finally, I checked and it does not appear that one can make PDF Fillable forms on Preview. I thought if I could, that would help and eliminate the problem. So far, nothing fixes it. Thanks in advance for any advice or ideas anyone has. Howard

Preview not saving annotations Preview is not saving my annotations of PDFs that students submit. It saves one or two and then stops. Apparently security settings create the problem but it's not feasible to tell the students to make sure that they disable security -- too many of them will forget. That's a problem. The technology should reduce barriers not add them. There was not problem with the annotations until I got my new mac at the end of 2021. Before that annotations worked without having to tell students to adjust security settings. I can see that if I open the files in Adobe I can save the annotations so it's an Apple Preview problem not a PDF problem. Unless there's some sort of fix for this (searching the discussions suggests that Apple does not see changing this as a priority) I will have to look at this as Apple broke Preview and I need to use Adobe to edit student papers. If there's a better solution I'd love to hear it.

Preview not saving check boxes in PDF forms For some reason 10.6's preview will not save check boxes in PDF forms, you can click them but as soon as you save them they disappear. Yet when I open the saved file in Acrobat Reader the check marks are there. Does anyone have a workaround for Preview?

Sierra is quite old by Apple's standards!

Released... September 20, 2016 & most recent version September 26, 2019.

But you lis MacOS12.6 which would be Monterey.

Try Acrobat Reader DC...

Whew, the world is changing. :(

To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...

Open System Preferences>Users & Groups, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.

Does it work in the new account?

If it still doesn't work I'd reinstall the OS.

free for only a week, then subscription starts. These are organizers for an accountant, so will need more than a week -like several months thanks though. Can't figure out why preview app on MAc wont work. It used to

thanks! I meant Monterey! IS there a free program similar to Adobe? For how little I would use it, to pay even 12.99 for basic Adobe too expensive. I used to have it when it was free.
