I’m trying to send 4500-5000 of photos and videos in One go but it’s only completing the preparing option and after that error.

Apple has not, to my knowledge, published any information concerning limits to the number of files that can be transferred using AirDrop as a single action. That said, there are likely to be both practical and technical limitations - such as available RAM to process the instruction.

Attempting such a large single transfer is perhaps not advisable. Splitting the task into smaller chunks would be more likely to result in successful transfer.
