I have used an email address in the past for my apple id, but is not currently using it. Now, when I have a new iphone I want to use the same email, but it is not possible as the email address is occupied by me. How can I use MY own gmail??

You use the Apple ID you already created using that email address. An email address can only be associated with one Apple ID. Since you already used it to create an Apple ID, you have to use that Apple ID.

Well I tried signing in some time back, but it dis mot work, so I used the other apple-id that I use on my work mobile. But, I will leave that work and when I do, I will not gave access to the email and apple id I am using on both phones..

That’s because you are trying to create a new Apple ID instead of signing in with your existing one.
