Is this with a printer?

if so, check whether the printer firmware needs an upgrade. Upgrade it if not current.

Also check whether there’s a self-signed digital certificate loaded in the printer that needs to be re-generated.

Here’s an Epson printer that has a certificate error: Expired encryption certificate on epson p… - Apple Community

And an HP printer: I have a 2010 iMac, won't talk to my prin… - Apple Community

Whether and how that digital certificate might be implemented on an unspecified printer varies, Find the printer administration manual for the particular printer, and search for “certificate”, etc.

Or if not a printer, is this “encryption expired” error with some other digital certificate of yours, or with a certificate associated with some website you are attempting to access?

If the above is entirely wrong and this isn’t a printer self-signed certificate and isn’t an expired digital certificate on some other server, please post the complete error message or diagnostic being shown, and we might be able to move this along to the answer that you want and need here.

And more generally, which macOS? High Sierra (where this is posted) won’t run on an M1-class Mac.
