iPhone fitness app delayed data

I open the fitness app and noticed that the step or flights climbed numbers are old and crusty.

At some “random” time later they’ll update to the current values.

anyone know how to get the fitness app to refresh its numbers from the phone’s hardware?

another example: my pedometer app says I’ve done 10,000 steps and my fitness app may say 8,000 steps. But, later in the day they’ll both read the same number, e.g. 11,000 steps
