Microsoft Sculpt Keyboard Going to Sleep Constantly

Hello! I love my Microsoft Sculpt keyboard, and I am using it with a MacBook Pro that I got this year. I also occasionally use it with an older MacBook Air. My issue is that the keyboard seems to go into sleep mode or turn off after a few seconds of not typing on it. Strangely, if I shake the keyboard a bit, that seems to regain connection, but this is obviously not a long-term solution. The connection is via a USB dongle that I plug in through a USBC to USB adapter.

Is anyone aware of any settings I might be able to play with to prevent the keyboard from sleeping/disconnecting after a few seconds of inactivity?

Hello ryan_girl,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. We see you have some questions about a third party keyboard connected to your MacBook. The following link may be able to assist, as it can walk through accessories that may not work as they should, with your Mac, although you're not seeing the message the article states: If you see USB Devices Disabled on your Mac

If an external device isn’t recognized by your Mac and a message says that the device needs more power, the operation can't be completed, or USB Devices Disabled, try these steps:
•Disconnect and reconnect the external device to your Mac.
•Connect your external device to a different port on your Mac.
•If your external device is connected to a USB or Thunderbolt hub, connect your device directly to your Mac.
•If your USB or Thunderbolt hub is self-powered, make sure that it’s connected to an AC adapter.
If you still need help, contact Apple Support.

Regards.
