iPad 10 wired headphone output

Hi there,

Purchased a new iPad 10th generation for my son to use for music making.

He always uses a pair of wired headphones that he connects to other devices with a jack to USB-C plug.

But the new iPad 10 refuses to send audio through the headphones (unlike all our other tables, including his sister's iPad Pro).

Any ideas why this is happening and how I can get the audio to work through wired headphones?

Cheers,

Matt

Therein may be the problem. While perhaps unlikely if the “generic” adapter works with other iPads, the adapter may use a DAC-chip that is not supported by the iPad10.

If you can, try using the generic adapter with another iPad10 (any retailers display models will suffice). If the adapter doesn’t work, you’ve confirmed the source problem. If the adapter does work, you’ll need to investigate the issue with the iPad.

Alternatively, consider using the Apple Adapter - as this is known to be compatible with all models of iPad. The Apple USB-C to 3.5mm Headphone Jack Adapter is very inexpensive.

If Wired, Disable Bluetooth.

A. Disable Bluetooth In Preferences/Settings. See where things go from there.

B. If need be, download some drivers from the manufacturer's web site. Contact the manufacturer, and request assistance with setting this up, if a Bluetooth connection is not instantaneously achievable. Find the "Contact Us" link, somewhere on their home page, usually towards the bottom-center or far-left of the home page.
