iPad magnetic?

Hi,
why is the iPad magnetic?
Actually it is not totally magnetic but if you place the ipad on a table (display facing down) the lower left corner is.
Battery? Wifi module?

Is the magnet strong enough to interfere with the magnetic strip on eg creditcards?

The iPad won't interfere with the magnetic strip on a credit card.

Good to hear.
Although I must confess that the magnet is not really light... it's strong enough to keep several coins attached. :/

Still wonder what causes this. What is the original intention for this?

If the display is facing downward, then i'm guessing that the speaker is what you've found to be magnetic. Although a previous contributor stated that a magnet won't wipe a bank card, I have spoken to several people who've had bank cards wiped out by both magnets and 3G transmissions.

Best advice is to keep the cards and the phone/ipad separate!!

Mmm speaker, yes! I I have taken a small magnet to a card card magnetic strip before to see what happens. Nothing happen to mess up the credit card.
