Reporting incorrect screentime/activity

Hi,

I am primary on our family account with 3 children on the account. One of our child's phone is reporting incorrect amount of time for screentime activity. An amount of time is reported but when I click to see all activity I can see that it is not correct. The actual usage is in color and the minutes used for each application doesn't add up to anything near the amount reported. For instance it will report 8+ hours when really it was only used for a total of 25 minutes. The amount in excess will be grayed out on the bar graph that shows activity. Why is this doing this all the sudden?

I found a forum that said it was a bug in one of the updates and the next update will fix the problem. I did the next update and it was better for two days.

Anyone know why this is happening and what I can do to correct it?

Hi there tracy_adelle,

If you are seeing inaccurate usage in your child's Screen Time report, let's first ensure that all the devices being used with Screen Time are fully updated. These steps from Update your iPhone or iPad walk you through how to back up and update each device if you need it:

1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.

2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.

3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.

4. If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.

5. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do.

Great! Now, test the issue and if you are still seeing inaccurate information on the ScreenTime report after updating, you will want to reach out and contact Apple Support to investigate this behavior further.
