Percentage back Walgreens

I normally use the drive-up window when picking up and paying for prescriptions. I’ve been paying with apple the last few visits. I just realized I received only 1% back on all visits but one. One visit gave 3% back. Is the 1% because I hand my Apple Card to the clerk at the drive-up window? I believe the 3% was when I visited & paid inside the store at the pharmacy desk. Is there a way to receive the 3% without having to go inside the store?
