Apple Watch Pairing - Unable to connect to internet

I am having an issue pairing a generation 3 apple watch with my mother-in-law's iPhone. I have reset the watch to factory settings and attempted to pair them, but in the process, I have been alerted that I can't connect to the internet. I have attempted to find a way around this multiple times.


Steps I have attempted already:

  1. Reset network settings on the target phone
  2. Hard reset both the watch and the iPhone
  3. Attempted pairing while the watch is on the charger
  4. Chosen different languages and regions.


A few times, I was able to get through, and the software update was "preparing," but then the apple watch would restart, and all progress would be lost, bringing me back to a failure to connect to the internet when I tried again.


Any help would be appreciated!

First, please check the troubleshooting steps in these articles and complete anything not already done: If your Apple Watch isn't connected or paired with your iPhone and If you see 'Unable to Verify Update' when updating Apple Watch.


If the issue persists after both articles troubleshooting has been completed, further assistance may be needed.
