Calls dropping at 15mins

Since updating iPhone 11 Pro Mac to 16.2 my calls drop out after 15 mins. Most businesses put me on hold for longer than 15 mins so it’s impossible getting onto anyone.

The call still looks like it’s connected on my phone eventhough it has disconnected. I’ve tried removing sim and cleaning it. Turning aeroplane mode on and off. Tried resetting network settings. Turned phone off a number of times.

i did actually get 1 call to last 40 minutes but then my other calls don’t.

Im running out of ideas. Thank you

Update:

I rang my carrier again. I told them I couldn’t turn on my caller ID and my calls dropped out after 15 mins.

They made some setting changes including VOLTE and my problems appear solved.

Thank you for your help.

Hey 1ELV5,

We'd be happy to help out. It doesn't actually sound like your call is dropping as it still shows as connected in the Phone app you mentioned. When a call is dropped, it will specifically state this. Otherwise, there's likely something else going on here.

If you feel confident the call is being dropped despite it not appearing this way, given the steps you've taken to this point, you should definitely reach out to your wireless carrier for further support on this matter. Phone calls drop for a wide variety of reasons, network performance issues, environmental reasons, network coverage, etc.

If everything checks out with your wireless carrier, then it'd be best to contact Apple so they can diagnose the issue further and run some tests to isolate this behavior. They can be reached using this link: Get Support

We hope this helps out.

Take care!

Hello 1ELV5,

Thanks for reaching back out, but since the changes your provider made helped for the first call, it stands to reason they need to make the same changes again, or make other changes. Unless your device is hanging up on every call exactly at 15 minutes, it's not the device. Even accidental touches made by a bad display would not occur at the same exact time every time.

Something with the way your calls are being handled or routed is the most likely cause for this, and your provider needs to investigate this more with you.

Thanks.

Thank you for your response. I forgot to mention I can’t turn on show my caller ID.

i don’t know if I explained it well. I make a call. At about 15 mins 30 secs I can no longer hear the person I’ve called. I physically have to end call then redial the number again. I will contact carrier again. Thank you
