iPhone 12 Pro Max video not playing

So I’ve recorded 3 videos and they’re all grey. I’ve sent them and we can hear the audio but it’s just a black screen. I really don’t want to lose the recordings of my kids what is going on??

To clarify, does this happen with videos taken with the rear and front camera of your iPhone 12 Pro Max? We want to see if this is isolated to one camera or happening with both, which can help determine possible next steps.


Also, if you haven't yet, you can see if restarting your iPhone 12 Pro Max may help. This can refresh the iOS and possibly help stop this from happening with future videos.


"How to restart your iPhone X, 11, 12, 13, or later

  1. Press and hold either volume button and the side button until the power-off slider appears.
  2. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.
  3. To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button (on the right side of your iPhone) until you see the Apple logo."
