Consolidating contacts across devices

I have multiple lists of contacts on my phone iCloud, Google, Yahoo, and different contacts on my MacBook Pro. What's the simplest way to consolidate them so that my contacts are the same everywhere?

Hi there Hart Weichselbaum,

To see all your contacts on all your devices, you'll want to use iCloud for Contacts:

When you set up iCloud for Contacts, your contacts are stored in the cloud instead of locally on your device. You can see them on any device that’s set up for iCloud and Contacts, including your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, and Windows computer. You can also access your iCloud contacts in a web browser.

Because your contacts are in the cloud, changes you make on one device—like adding a contact, updating a phone number, or deleting an email address—automatically appear on all your devices. You see the most up-to-date version of your contacts, no matter where you access them.

You'll find this information here: Keep your contacts up to date with iCloud - Apple Support

To set that up, follow these steps: Set up iCloud for Contacts on all your devices - Apple Support

Take care.

Hello Hart Weichselbaum,

Thanks for updating us with that information. It sounds like you're referring to within the Contacts app itself, right?

If we have that correct, you may need to link them manually if you aren't seeing any duplicates appear. Keep in mind that the contact would need to have the same first and last name for them to match. We'll include steps to manually link contacts below, and you can find additional helpful information here: Get rid of duplicate contacts on iPhone - Apple Support

Link contacts manually

If two entries for the same person aren’t linked automatically, you can unify them manually.

1. Tap one of the contacts, tap Edit, then tap Link Contacts.

2. Choose the other contact entry to link to, then tap Link.

When you link contacts with different first or last names, the names on the individual cards don’t change, but only one name appears on the unified card. To choose which name appears on the unified card, tap one of the linked cards, tap the contact’s name on that card, then tap Use This Name For Unified Card.

Note: When you link contacts, those contacts aren’t merged. If you change or add information in a unified contact, the changes are copied to each source account where that information already exists.

We hope this is able to help. If you need additional assistance, contact Apple Support directly to check into this with you in more detail.

Have a great day!

Hello Hart Weichselbaum,

The link we shared above has the best information on how to Get rid of duplicate contacts on iPhone. You would only see the "Duplicates found" under your card in contacts if any were identified. To make sure you're looking in the correct spot, you'd locate your card by scrolling through your list of contacts to find the one that contains your information. You should see "me" to the right of the contact designated as My Card.

If any remain that were not automatically identified, you'd use the steps provided above to manually link the contacts. Here they are for reference:

Brandon, thanks so much for trying to help. And sorry about the delay in getting back to you. The instruction say that Duplicates Found should appear under my card. As you can see from the attachment, it doesn't. Why doesn't it, or where can I find it. (I'm running the latest version of the OS.)
