Mac OS and Canon Pixma printer with no paper type settings

Hi,

I purchased a Canon Pixma TS9565 in Australia as it was highly rated for craft. I followed the manual and it kept talking about selecting the type of paper and nothing showed up on the printing operations panel for media type apart from the standard ones that Mac offers. There are no options for Canon glossy or matte paper etc as recommended to select with the photo paper that came with the printer.

So I contacted Canon and I was told that the Apple AirPrint driver for the TS9565 only supports selection of paper sizes. There are no paper type settings! It's very disappointing from Canon who basically can't be bothered developing a printer driver for Mac! I wished I had known and I would have got something that would have worked properly on my machine. I guess there are no workarounds, right? The only solution would be to get a Windows laptop to install the printer driver? It prints ok and I have downloaded some printer profiles that I haven't tasted yet for Ilford and Red River papers to print greeting cards with photos but I feel I am missing out on the full capacities of this printer!
