Unable to attach one or more attachments failed to load

Hi

Last night i upgraded my Directors phones ( Iphone 13 Pro) and my Own phone (Iphone 13 Pro Max) to ios 16.2

Since then we are unable to forward emails with more than 5 attachments using APPLE MAIL.

We get a batch of reports daily always with 9 attachments and we have always forward it around. The more or less the same size too so its not a size issue.

The emails forward fine from the outlook app.

I have removed and added the email account and I have deleted the app and re installed it. Rebooted the device numerous times.

There is one other person whose phone i did not upgrade to ios16.2 , tested forwarding the exact same mail on his phone and it works perfectly.

is there anyone who knows how to solve this or even roll back IOS upgrade?

Hi, was having the same issue on iOS and iPadOS.

Now upgraded to iOS 16.4.1, tried the email that caused the problems and it does seem to work again!

iOS 16.4.1 seems to fix the issue.

I am on 16.5.1, both iPad and iPhone and have the same issue. However, I noticed that I get the error message, but when I send anyway the email is sent with an attachment. I BCC myself so I can see what is received.

Never had this issue before the last update.

I am using Apple Mail.

Hi corne273,

We'd like to help share some helpful ideas to assist you with your issue forwarding emails with more than 5 attachments. Looking over Reply to and forward emails in Mail on iPhone it does not appear there are any limits mentioned. What we would suggest since the email even though comes from the iPhone, it will still pass through the server for Outlook, so we would start with contacting their support to see if there are any compatible conflicts happening from the iOS that they could address if there is an issue with how they are read from iOS 16.2. If you reach out without any success, we would further recommend contacting Apple Support

Hi There, I logged this with Apple Support, I took them through it step for step and tested multiple scenarios. They confirmed that this is an issue and would be working on it, we can expect a fix in the next few updates hopefully.

I do believe it is the Apple Mail App since the IOS 16.2 update.

The exact same mail can be forwarded with all its attachments on the same model phone that I didn't update.

The app says "Unable to Attach one or more attachments failed to load" with the options to compose anyway or cancel.

I tap compose anyway and the it will forward the mail without the attachments. (All 9 PDFS are less than 200KB)

If I forward a mail with fewer PDF attachments, it works fine.

Even on 16.4 I am still having this issue, I've tried it on multiple email addresses on different domains.

We are seeing this issue too in iOS 16.3.1.

Our users have an app that composes emails and attaches PDFs. Whenever more than 2 PDFs are attached we get this error. This is happening with Google and Office365 email accounts.

Does anybody have any workaround or solution for this problem?

I just downloaded the update two days ago with 16.4.1(a). Now I have the problem. Unable to forward attachments as attachments fail to load. And these are PDFs. Also, when expanding or enlarging an attachment, it simply disappears. The software is very unstable in other ways, too.

Apple will allow iCloud to iCloud attachments. No matter how big the file. Once you use or send to another type of email it will automatically send out an error.

try it. Use your iCloud account and send it to another iCloud email attach all the same items. It will work just fine. Tried it multiple times.

I have the same ongoing problem. No fixes, no answers, no resolution. It used to work until Apple continued to update and improve their system. Please post any solution if Apple decides to resolve this. No answers and no communication from Apple.
