Hi Weatpak,

That would be expected behavior for AirPods Pro (2nd generation). That particular model allows you to track the case by itself when it is separated from the AirPods. More info can be found here: Find your lost AirPods - Apple Support and below.

" With AirPods Pro (2nd generation), you can also locate the charging case on the map if it's separated from your AirPods."

That means it will show a two separate devices.

Best regards.

Hi Weatpak,

Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities. We understand your AirPods are showing as two separate Bluetooth devices.

Your screenshot shows two devices connected to your Personal Hotspot. If one is connected with Bluetooth, then that could explain why there are two showing.

How to set up a Personal Hotspot on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

If you check at Settings > Bluetooth, do you see AirPods listed twice?

If so, is it possible you got them mixed up with another pair of AirPods? Are the serial numbers the same? Here's how to check if needed: Find the serial number of your AirPods.

If that is not the issue, you'll want to make sure your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS and your AirPods have the latest firmware. This article explains more about this: About firmware updates for AirPods - Apple Support.

"

Find your AirPods firmware version

Firmware updates are delivered periodically while your AirPods are charging and in Bluetooth range of your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.

Because firmware updates are delivered automatically, you don't need to update your AirPods.

To use your iPhone or iPad to check that your AirPods are up to date, make sure that you have the latest version of iOS or iPadOS. Go to Settings > Bluetooth, then tap the Info button  next to the name of your AirPods. Scroll down to the About section to find the firmware version.

To use your Mac to check that your AirPods are up to date, make sure that you have the latest version of macOS. Press and hold the Option key while choosing Apple menu  > System Information. Click Bluetooth, then look under your AirPods for the firmware version. With macOS Ventura, you can also choose Apple menu  > System Settings, click Bluetooth, then click the Info button  next to the name of your AirPods.

Latest firmware versions

  • AirPods Pro (2nd generation): 5B58
  • AirPods Pro (1st generation): 5B58
  • AirPods (2nd and 3rd generation): 5B58
  • AirPods Max: 5B58
  • AirPods (1st generation): 6.8.8

You may want to try resetting your AirPods as well. This article explains how: How to reset your AirPods and AirPods Pro.

"

  1. Put your AirPods in their charging case, and close the lid.
  2. Wait 30 seconds.
  3. Open the lid of your charging case, and put your AirPods in your ears.
  4. Go to Settings > Bluetooth. Or go to Settings > [your AirPods].
    • If your AirPods appear there as connected, tap the More Info button  next to your AirPods, tap Forget This Device, then tap again to confirm.
    • If your AirPods don't appear there, continue to the next step.

5. Put your AirPods in their charging case, and keep the lid open.

6. Press and hold the setup button on the back of the case for about 15 seconds, until the status light on the front of the case flashes amber, then white.*

7. Reconnect your AirPods: With your AirPods in their charging case and the lid open, place your AirPods close to your iPhone or iPad. Follow the steps on your device's screen.

Take care.
