From various user reports, it seems that Apple TV (3rd generation) is no longer compatible with iCloud services since the latest changes to iCloud. Consider retiring the old 2012/2013 model, and get a newer model if e.g. iCloud Photos are important to you on Apple TV.

Else contact Apple Support to inquire about possible plans to revert prior compatibility?
