Ive read about what different letters mean but there’s nothing about serial number starting with a C.

It means nothing, absolutely nothing. At one time it may have determined the factory where a device was manufactured, but Apple now uses random numbers for serial numbers.
Perhaps you are thinking of Model numbers?
M = New
N = Replacement
F = Refurbished
P = Personalized

Perhaps you are thinking of Model numbers?
M = New
N = Replacement
F = Refurbished
P = Personalized
If you purchased from an authorized dealer, return the device for a replacement/refund. If you purchased from an unauthorized dealer, you will need to deal with them regarding their policy for New/Replacement devices.

My model number starts with a N, here it says it means replacement but I am under the impression that I bought as a NEW phone. I paid the price of a brand new and specifically asked for a new phone.
