Ventura calendar Exchange

Why does the 'out of office' option for exchange calendar events in apple calendar keep disappearing? iOS calendar is not affected.

I have now had to remove the exchange account and re-adding it twice to get the option back. This takes ages, as I have thousands of exchange emails that have to be reloaded in mail.

Does anybody have another solution?

Hello Maarten van der Smagt,

Let's use the steps below to boot your Mac into safe mode to see if that behavior persists from there:

Determine whether you're using a Mac with Apple silicon, then follow the appropriate steps:

Apple silicon
1. Shut down your Mac.
2. Turn on your Mac and continue to press and hold the power button until you see the startup options window.
3. Select your startup disk, then press and hold the Shift key while clicking “Continue in Safe Mode.”
4. Log in to your Mac. You might be asked to log in again.

Intel processor
1. Turn on or restart your Mac, then immediately press and hold the Shift key as your Mac starts up.
2. Release the key when you see the login window, then log in to your Mac.
3. You might be asked to log in again. On either the first or second login window, you should see ”Safe Boot” in the upper-right corner of the window.

It can take a few extra minutes to boot into safe mode. Your screen may flash or flicker while in safe mode. Those behaviors are expected. Testing in safe mode runs a check on your disk, removes some cached files, and can help isolate conflicts with startup items. Once you've tested that behavior in safe mode, you can restart to leave safe mode.

Should that still persist, do you have any other email accounts set up on your Mac? If so, do they exhibit the same behavior?

Let us know, and we'll keep moving forward based on those details.

Understood Maarten van der Smagt,

Based on this happening in safe mode - and thus being system-wide - as well as iOS working, then we'd recommend that you contact Apple Support for additional assistance. While it is possible Microsoft may need to be involved, they can help look into the Apple side of things with you.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities!

Thanks Chuck,

Unfortunately this didn't help. The problem is stil there. I do have other email accounts, but the are not exchange (imap, without calendar).

An (old) shared department calendar (which I think is also exchange) shows the same behaviour (no out of office option)

I do have a family shared iCloud calendar, but that has no option at all to set "show as". I think that is normal behaviour, but I don't know (I have never needed the option for this calendar).

BTW this is a 2017, 15 inch MacBook Pro (so intel)
