MacBook Pro 14'' M1 black screen after waking from sleep

Hi all, I've had a problem with my MacBook Pro 14'' M1 since upgrading to Ventura. I often put my computer to sleep just by closing the lid, but sometimes when I open it, it shows a black screen. I can still see the cursor moving around though. There's no issue with booting the computer from scratch so it's a wake-from-sleep issue. Any tips on how to resolve this? thanks!

Try and restart the MacBook to see if the problem persists.

If the problem persist, boot your Mac in the safe mode to see if the issue persists

  1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > Shut Down.
  2. Wait for your Mac to shut down completely. A Mac is completely shut down when the screen is black and any lights (including in the Touch Bar) are off.
  3. Press and hold the power button on your Mac until “Loading startup options” appears.
  4. Select a volume.
  5. Press and hold the Shift key, then click Continue in Safe Mode.

If the issue is not persisting in the safe mode, it is caused by an external piece of software, and not from macOS. Please review your external software if this is the case
