I have the most recent OS, I’ve quit the app and rebooted my iPad, but the search function in the calendar app no longer works. The appointments are all on the calendar, but I am unable to search for them. Anyone have any ideas how to tackle this, or is it a known issue?

This worked for my iPhone.
Go to Settings/iCloud, Expand Apps using iCloud and find Calendar. If it is turned on turn it off. Select “Keep on my iPhone”. Wait until it finishes, wait about 1 minute. Then turn it back on and select “Merge”. This help was obtained through Apple Support and finally fixed my problem.

If after updating you're unable to search your calendars as expected, you'll want to reach out to Apple Support. They'll be able to look in to that with you and see what may be happening.
