iPad Freezing Frequently

Recently, my iPad has begun freezing. The screen stops responding and the only way to fix it is to force restart the iPad by holding down on the power and home buttons. A week ago, it started freezing about every hour or so, but now it freezes after 7-15 minutes of use.


I suspect it might be an iPadOS 16.2 bug since this only started happening since I updated to the new version, but maybe it's another issue that just happened to coincide with when I updated to the latest version.


Any help is appreciated!

Try the steps there including checking network connections, closing apps that may not be responding, storage and device temperatures. If necessary, the final instruction on that page indicates:


  • "If you tried these tips and your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch is still slow or continues to freeze, contact Apple Support."
