Cannot remove old eSIM

I have an iPhone 12 running 16.2 IOS. Recently moved from Verizon to Mint and cannot delete or erase old Verizon eSIM. I’ve tried the Settings, Cellular and delete you see everywhere. I don’t get an option to delete or erase. Any other ideas?

I have the identical issue. The complication is contacts continue to default to the old esim even after adjusting the preference of an individual contact.

Deleting the eSIM Card?

Why do you want to erase the eSIM card? It is in there to configure how your iPhone works. Formatting is likely just not an option, on the Carrier's behalf, being they make it read-only.

I finally did a factory reset and that fixed my problem. The eSIM information gets erased with a factory reset and is NOT part of your backed-up files. So I had to request a new eSIM from Mint (no big deal, was free and took 10 minutes). This is what’s weird- apparently the back-up does save whatever you’ve named the eSIM (in my case “Old Verizon” and puts that name back in the eSIM listing, although there’s no data to power or connect to the old carrier. Since doing that I’ve not had any issue with my phone trying to use that eSIM and I can group text with android phones again. The factory reset was my friend. I hope this helps.
