I don’t understand alternatives to Do Not Disturb

What is the setting for just normal mode? Like just living my life? I don’t need work, focus, sleep etc. What mode is just “neutral” or whatever? These are so confusing

Only you know what “neutral” means to you. I have a Focus profile active pretty much all of the time. That works for me.

You can simply turn off Focus if you don’t want to use it. Pull down the Control Center and tap on the picture on the Focus button.

You can also delete all of the Focus profiles except for Do Not Disturb if you don’t need to use them. Go to Settings>Focus and select each of the profiles. At the bottom of the screen on each one is a delete button.

I’d say that’s a matter of opinion. It’s certainly not my normal mode of use. And, given the flexibility built into Focus, I’m guessing that Apple anticipates lots of people will use it the way I do. That doesn’t mean you have to use it that way or even use it at all, of course.

I don’t know to reply to every so I’m just replying to myself. First of all THANK YOU for your prompt responses! That was fast!

Second, thanks for being able to decipher my inane question. I was so tired and frustrated when I wrote it.

Third, I thought Focus was one of the “options”; I did not realized it was the name of the button or function or whatever.

Fourth, you’ve helped me clarify that I’m wanting what I think I used to have—the ability to just toggle Do Not Disturb on and off. Is that possible? I don’t want to delete it altogether.

Thank you again! Who are you people? I think I’ve been driven mad by the eleventy-hundredth days of rain that have been drilling into my brain here is CA!

"Normal Mode" is when none of the Focus profiles are activated. Focus is an option you can use if, for example, you want your iPhone to react in a certain way when you are driving, sleeping or whatever scenarios you can imagine.

If you do not activate any focus functions, the phone will work as usual.

You're right. If you have a Focus profile activated all the time, then this is your normal mode. I understood it as the "thread starter" was confused by all the Focus options, and asked if it was necessary to have a Focus profile activated if you just wanted to use your iPhone "normally"
