Fixed~ flashing camera 14 PRO
I have dealt with my camera blinking for quite a while. I will tell you what worked for me to fix this and hopefully help others. Rebooting phone it eventually came back so I am assuming the last update might have turned the Macro setting to OFF
go to settings on your phone, > then to camera, > find Macro (mine was set to Off) and toggle this on/off. Once I set mine to ON it seemed to stop the flickering and appeared to stay at a steady camera with the ability to then take photos again. I hope this helps others!
I'm having the same problem. I think this is caused by the iOS 16.3.1 update. I don't think they'll send out a fix until update 16.4 which comes out by the end of March.
Yeah after three days the Macro toggle worked now mine is back to blinking again sadly. I agree with you reboot until a fix!!
Thank you to everyone who has posted. I’m having the same issue! I’ve tried every fix mentioned here, and the only thing that works is to power it down…sometimes multiple times. I hope Apple has a fix coming soon. This prevented me from getting photos of my daughter’s school performance. Wondering if the iPhone 13 max or latest update is the “bad apple?”🤔
Any official response from Apple? The 13 pro max has the same issue. Might be worth to start to pressure a response on the socials. I’ve missed some special moments due to this issue, and it’s more than just frustrating at this point.
Just opened another thread. Let’s join forces and add pressure. For all the money we spend on Apple products, they need to do better. I’m all for being a pain on all their socials’ ADs, the more of us that are willing to put some time into it, the sooner they’ll respond.

Tried every single fix recommend (Macro on, Macro off, phone off, phone on, juggling kiwis, performing magic tricks, selling a kidney…nothing helps. And it’s so random as to when it happens. Days go with flickering camera screen then suddenly it works for a day then next day flicker. It def seems to be a broader issue that apple needs to address. I can’t see myself paying off my three year contract on this phone to not have a camera that works 😭
That’s what I do every time. But notice I said “every time.” It always happens again. It might be days or weeks later, but eventually the thing starts acting bonkers again. Definitely an issue apple needs to address still.
Update from earlier post about blinking camera…the new issue is that my IPhone is giving an error message that the camera “may not be an original component of the phone.” Everything is original as the day I purchased.
Anyone else having this issue?
I'm in agreement with this.
I don't want to take it in to get a refurbished phone. This is obviously an issue and I'm paying money for a device that has obvious hardware issues. I cannot maximize something that Apple guaranteed.
Apple needs to actually address this problem stat. The camera is integral. Everyone uses it. I can't even do my social media for my business. I can't facetime family members 1000 miles away from me.
It's not okay.
Come on Apple.
I recorded what it looks like but this won’t let me upload :(
no ... :-(
I have had this issue numerous times, my macro function is turned off and this needs to be fixed by Apple.
I have the same issue. I was trying to record my child walk for the first time. What a pain. The moment was missed. I don’t want to reboot my AU$2000 iPhone every time I take a photo
who wants to reboot the phone every time we want to take a photo.
