Incredibly slow transfer exFAT/FAT32 on Ventura13.1

Hello Everyone,

I have a Macbook Pro M1 2020 and since updating to Ventura, transferring files to a hard drive on both Exfat/ FAT32 has been a true nightmare! it's taking about 30 minutes for 1.86gb file which is really frustrating when previously done in 3-4 minutes back on Monterey version!

Knowing that Sony TV is only able to read the above-mentioned formats, I have to stick with them.

Kindly let me know if you are experiencing a similar situation and if somebody figure out a solution. I would appreciate any kind of advice or a tip.

Thank you in advance.

Best Regards

Med

What is the exact make & model of the "drive" you are using?

How is this "drive" connected to the Mac? Check the Apple System Profiler to see what type of USB protocol the "drive" is using and connecting with. If the "drive" is showing USB2, then that will be painfully slow...could be an adapter, cable, dock, hub slowing it down as some devices may have a USB2 port instead of USB3.

Not all external devices are compatible with an M1/M2 Apple Silicon Mac, usually older devices.

Make sure to disconnect all other external devices from the Mac.

Try connecting the "drive" to another port on the Mac.

Connect the "drive" directly to the Mac. If you must use a USB-C to USB-A adapter, try using another one.
