UPDATE DATE OF BIRTH APPLE ID

How is it possible that not you nor Apple can't update a date of birth if this implies that the concerned person will go from over 13 to under 13 years and thus be considered as a child. I encountered many in the same case and no solution can be found by Apple, except starting from scratch again (new email, new apple ID, new set up, new everything...great)

I can easily understand that there must be governance and restrictions and whatever but where the **** has this kind of change become totally impossible to make.

this is nonsense. I simply can't figure this out and find them excuses/good reasons.

Sometimes Apple's mindset is great, sometimes it's just rubbish.

I quote from: Update the birth date associated with your Apple ID - Apple Support

"Change a birth date for a child

To change a birth date to any age below 13,* you must be a member of a Family Sharing group, and your family organizer must approve the change. After you change a birth date to any age below 13, you can't edit it.* Learn more about Family Sharing

  1. Update the birth date.
  2. Follow the onscreen steps to send an email request to your family organizer.
  3. Your family organizer will get an email with instructions to approve the request.

*Age varies by country or region. If you need to change the birth date for a child, contact Apple Support.

Then quote Apple the section I copied and pasted from their own documentation: "To change a birth date to any age below 13". That implies this is a possibility. In fact I have never heard of any kind of age change being flat out impossible, even when mistakenly made under 13. We have recommended that people ask Apple and they have not come back and said they wouldn't do it. However, they may have criteria you are not meeting. All I know is what their documentation says and what you say.

*because indeed when I do the change on Apple ID I am told an email has been sent to the family organiser and contains d’eau est for approval.

but I never receive this email whereas I receive other emails from apple
