What if my family member let me have it but it’s still her number how do I change it??

tap Settings > General > About > Carrier

Identify the carrier providing the service. Contact the carrier about changing service to your name with a new number, or contact a different carrier about doing that. A number is not associated with a particular iPhone, it is connected to an individual's service plan with a telephone company.
