I cannot change the inlog-picture of a user

I want to change my old (and by now vague) inlog picture.

I have a screen without camera.

In the panel of the users,

  • I cannot open a file or folder - clicking Fotos gives favorites (???) and Shared (I cant put a picture in shared) and Albums (but it opens no albums)
  • I cannot drag a picture into the icon area

How can I do it?

Mac Studio, macOS 13.1

Thanks Luis, this gets me a step ahead - I see I have not Photo's 'on'. (I have so many pictures it would flush the entire iCloud) and in fact, because of permamanent activity in the background I took out the Photos library - so it cant find it now.

OK. I made a new Photos library. Dragged a profile picture there. Added it in a album. The System Panel does not see it [yet].

> I do use Photos on the iPad-pro. Just a few GB. Have it not shred there. [Would be a good idea now?]

I think I will restart the machine. Maybe that will attach the new information of finder that there is a library now to the system panel??

In System Setting and refer to images below

Your User Account in Left Panel

Mouse Over the existing Avatar and the Edit will appear.

Click the Edit and refer to second image below

On Left of that panel are listed the various options to Memoji, Emoji etc

Use the desired Image / avatar and drag to replace the existing image

I don't know why it is not working for you.

Does it also not work if you try to change it from the Apple id, at the top of System Settings? If it does not work there either, try modifying it online at icloud.com (that is all assuming you are using icloud, of course)

You and I do not what Their supplied images . I what my Owl .

So, from the location on the Computer where the desired image is located, just Drag and Drop that special Image onto the existing Image

In my case I took the Owl from Photos Application dropped onto Desktop then Drag and Drop Edit and here I am

That drag and drop does not work overhere.

WAIT:

yes it does.

Now I made the photos library (thanks luis because you guided me to the pane with iCloud and saw it was OFF)

I can nowafter making the new lib and putting in a content drag and drop it - only from the library, not from Finder.

Prayer: Oh Big Apple. Can't you be more clear?

Thanks.

yes, the error on my side was: I read Photos Library as [any] Pictures library (that is . . . any folder with pictures).

& Because I have Lightroom I have a whole structure of raw files and some output folders. But neither of them are "Photos Libraries".

So it boils down to semantics. Photos is too much a Household Name (that is, anyone can use it).

No harm and No Foul. 👍 😀

" The Devil is in the Details " especially when dealing with things related to Computers and even more so with Apple Computers.

There are specific Terminologies ( words ) specific that can make the issue more precise or more cloudy

That is what I have learned over the years 🇨🇦
