No infinity symbol?

I want to stream music to my car radio using autoplay. iPhone (14) and radio are paired but when I switch off the car and then start it again, the radio gives a "No audio device". I assume autoplay is off in this case but in Music the infinity symbol is missing. I've tried restarting the phone, re-installed Music but no luck so far.

Any suggestions would be more than welcome...

Hi DariusThe5th,

Thanks for connecting with us here in Apple Support Communities. Are you using CarPlay to connect to your car stereo? If so, please follow the steps listed in this article as it may help to address the issue you're facing. You'll also see how to connect using Bluetooth and USB.

See: How to connect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your car

Connect using CarPlay
Available on select cars, CarPlay is a smarter, safer way to use your iPhone in the car. CarPlay takes the things you want to do with your iPhone while driving and puts them right on your car’s built-in display.

First, make sure that your country or region supports CarPlay and that your car supports CarPlay.

If your car supports CarPlay using the USB port, plug your iPhone into the USB port of your car or stereo. The USB port might be labeled with a CarPlay icon or a smartphone icon.

If your car supports wireless CarPlay, press and hold the voice command button on your steering wheel to set up CarPlay. Or make sure that your car is in wireless or Bluetooth pairing mode. Then on your iPhone, go to Settings > General > CarPlay > Available Cars and choose your car. Check the manual that came with your car for more information.

Learn more about CarPlay or how to set up and use CarPlay.

Take care.

Hi Keisha_Keisha,

thank you for your answer - much appreciated! Alas I don't have CarPlay. I'm trying to connect my iPhone to a JVC car radio in such a way that the music will play as soon as I start the car. This has worked in the past with Musicolet for Android (I switched to iPhone a couple of days ago) but so far no luck on the iPhone.

Odd enough I can make calls via the radio but Music as well as VLC lose the connection as soon as I turn the car off. Maybe another player is an option?
