Making my new iPhone "discoverable"

My previous iPhone worked perfectly with my Audi car information system. I have now changed my iPhone (same number) and now have an Apple Watch. When I am driving my iPhone rings as normal but is not re-routed through the car sound system. The car information system tells me that the new phone is not "discoverable" even though its Bluetooth is turned "on" in Settings. Any ideas on how I can make my phone "hands-free" again?

Hi mistairchief,

It seems you need to pair your iPhone with your car and we can definitely help you with that.

Your iPhone is only discoverable when you open the menu in Settings > Bluetooth. While you're on that screen you're able to go through the pairing process to pair to your Audi.

If you never went to that screen and chose your Audi for pairing, then you'll need to pair your iPhone to the Audi for the first time. Any existing entry would be for your old iPhone, and you may consider deleting that.

Here's information you might need for pairing your iPhone:

1. On your device, go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn on Bluetooth. Stay on this screen until you complete the steps to pair your accessory.
2. Place your accessory in discovery mode and wait for it to appear on your device. If you don't see it or aren't sure how to make it discoverable, check the instructions that came with your accessory or contact the manufacturer.
3. To pair, tap your accessory name when it appears onscreen. You might need to enter the PIN or passcode. If you aren't sure what your PIN or passcode is, check the documentation for your accessory.

That should help you get your iPhone paired. Let us know if these steps help you get that working.
