Stolen iPhone and AIG insurance won’t pay

I was robbed by armed individuals in South America this weekend, luckily they only took my phone and watch and I wasn’t harmed. Before any of my iPhone data info was comprise, I deleted all the data from the phone following Apple recommendations and steps. If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch is lost or stolen - Apple Support

My phone location always tracked its position since day one, until 2 hours after it got stolen. Now AIG is telling me that they won’t pay for my phone because the phone tracking was off after the robbery. Please help?

In addition to what Zork has posted, you inadvertently made the phone untraceable by erasing it (assuming you were running iOS14 or less).

From the article you quoted:

"If you erase a device that had iOS 15, iPadOS 15, or later installed, you can still use Find My to locate the device or play a sound on it. Otherwise, you won't be able to locate the device or play a sound after you erase it."
