Ethernet connection to a network so other network device can connect to Studio Display

So I've asked Apple sales with no real joy (endless circular discussion and unrelated answers) but want to connect a new Studio display to an a network via Ethernet. The the action connection shouldn't be an issue (via a thunderbolt to ethernet adaptor) but how does one then see it on the network if it is not directly connected to a computer?

Studio Display

No, unfortunately:

The issue is that you’re trying to connect it outside the spec which you haven’t bothered reading, and looking for confirmation from clueless sales associates who’re trained to be polite when asked highly technical stuff outside their remit.

Anyway, best to give up on this, it won’t work unless it’s connected to one of the above. All the best.
