Automatic link creation in Pages - how to turn off for SPECIFIC set of characters

Pages automatically (when it is crossed in settings that is) changes phrases that look like URLs to links. It works great IF the text is in fact a URL. However there are phrases/abbreviations in my language that LOOK like urls to Pages (and they are not, they are just abbreviations) and the application constantly changes them to links. For instance "m.in." in Polish means "among others". And we use dots. A lot of dots in abbreviations.

I know I can turn off the automatic conversion, but I don't want to turn it off completely. I still want links to look like links. I just want to exclude the given phrase.

Is there a way to do that? (And I don't want to turn off the styling of the links either, if any of you were thinking about a workaround:)

In Pages Edit menu > Substitutions sub-menu, deselect Smart Web and Email links. In Pages Settings > Auto-Correction panel, ensure that Automatically add links to webpages and emails is also deselected. You need to perform both sentences to gag this feature.

This is an all or none proposition as one cannot configure Pages to ignore placing hyperlinks on certain characters.

Thank you for responding, but as I mentioned, I don’t want to turn off the link creation feature. I tried adding spaces behind the « m.in » to kind of cheat Pages to think it is not a link but it doesn’t work.

What worked however was using a replacement feature in this way: I type « m,in, » and then automatically replace commas with dots. Not very elegant,but smart and it works.:) Thankfully Pages is not smart enough to recognize the replacement as URL. All I have to remember is to use commas. Thankfully there is only few such abbreviations to remember.
