Apple Watch SE ‘screensaver’

I am learning to use my new Apple Watch SE; I switch between 3 different clock faces and that’s no problem. However, periodically — and I don’t know why~! — instead of my smiling grandchild photo, for example, what I have to call a ‘screensaver’ has appeared: it’s a magnified portion of an ordinary clock face, and I can’t turn it off via a long hold on the Crown button. The watch has a mind of its own — Help!

Have you perhaps enabled the Zoom function?

When I used to teach classes to people on how to use new technologies, one of the things I always told people was that you should push all the buttons and try all the features and that I've never seen a device blow up as a result. It's amazing what you'll learn by doing that. Point being, it's a lot harder to completely mess up an iPhone or Watch that people tend to think.
